Riley Green Reflects on Supporting His Opening Acts on Tour

At a Glance

Country star Riley Green recently joined the Zach Sang Show to discuss why he prioritizes performing with his opening acts on the road, drawing directly from his early days opening for major country headliners.

Tour Collaboration & On-Stage Chemistry

Following the release of his 19-song album That’s Just Me—which reached #3 on the Billboard 200, marking his highest-charting album and first top 10 entry—Riley Green continues to maintain a strong connection with his fans through continuous touring and authentic stage partnerships.

During his interview on the Zach Sang Show, Green explained how genuine on-stage moments with tour partners make a lasting impact on audiences. Rather than managing guest appearances solely behind the scenes through labels or management, Green focuses on real interaction with his support acts.

Featured Collaborations & Tour Support

  • Ella Langley: Joined Green on tour to perform their duet singles "You Look Like You Love Me" and "Don’t Mind If I Do" live every night.
  • Hannah McFarland: Featured on Green's latest album and joining him out on the road.
  • Jake Worthington: Collaborated on That’s Just Me while sharing concert dates on tour.
  • Album Guests: Additional project features include Alabama's Randy Owen and Brooks & Dunn.

Paying It Forward From Early Tour Experiences

Green shared that his approach to welcoming tour openers stems directly from how established headliners treated him when he was starting out. He recalled opening for Brad Paisley on a tour lineup that also included Chris Lane, where Green had a 25-minute set playing five songs.

After writing his track "I Wish Grandpas Never Died," Paisley posted a video covering the song online and invited Green out during Paisley's main set to perform it together nightly. Green noted that seeing major artists like Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, and Luke Bryan acknowledge opening acts made a permanent impression on how he runs his own concert tours today.
