Luke Combs Extends Chart Record as 'Be By You' Tops Country Aircheck
The country superstar secures his 23rd consecutive solo debut single at the top of the chart.
Luke Combs has added another historic milestone to his career as his single "Be By You" reached No. 1 on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart. The accomplishment marks his 23rd consecutive solo single to top the chart, continuing his record for the most consecutive No. 1 hits to launch a career.
Song Background and Personal Reaction
Featured on his fifth studio album, The Way I Am, "Be By You" was authored by songwriters Dan Alley, Sam Banks, and Nick Walsh. Though Combs is not listed as a co-writer on the track, the song resonated strongly with him. Dedicated to his wife Nicole, the love song includes lines comparing a partner's love to the "breeze of a sweet home holler."
"Love it when your bench seat blues slide to the middle / I’m stuck to you like glue, on your hip like a pistol / Wanna find me, you ain’t gotta look far / There’s nothing that can pull us apart / And I hope I ain’t comin’ on too strong / Just wanna hold you close, baby / Kinda looks like you do too / I just wanna make love, wake up next to you / No makeup, baby, nothing beats that view / I guess what it comes down to / Is I just wanna be by you"
Addressing fans directly while preparing dinner for his children, Combs shared that "Be By You" is the very first song out of his own discography that he cannot seem to get out of his head. Despite having released prominent hits like "When It Rains It Pours" and "Hurricane," he admitted that this track is the first of his own catalog to remain stuck on repeat for him personally. Expressing his gratitude, he thanked listeners for supporting the release and indicated that more music is on the way.
Tour Landmarks and Major Award Nominations
The news follows the August completion of Combs' international My Kinda Saturday Night stadium tour, during which he established several attendance milestones:
- Wembley Stadium: Became the first solo country artist in history to headline the venue, selling out three consecutive nights to more than 270,000 total fans.
- Slane Castle: Made history in Ireland as the first musical artist of any genre to sell out back-to-back nights.
- Ohio Stadium: Set an all-time attendance record of 97,367 fans, surpassing Pink Floyd's 1994 record by over 20,000 attendees.
- Neyland Stadium: Drew over 92,045 fans in May, breaking Garth Brooks' previous record for the largest concert audience at the venue.
- Allegiant Stadium: Set Nevada's all-time record for highest indoor attendance at an event with over 70,921 fans on opening night.
Additionally, Combs earned three nominations for the upcoming 60th Annual CMA Awards this fall, competing in categories for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Album of the Year for The Way I Am. Combs previously won the Entertainer of the Year title in 2021 and 2022.
