Following a 10-day trip to Japan with his wife, Caleigh, and wrapping up his 39-stop THE COUNTRY! COUNTRY! TOUR, HARDY is shifting his focus back into the recording studio. Speaking with Lon Helton on Country Countdown USA, the singer-songwriter shared details regarding his upcoming project and recent collaborative work.
Fresh Songs and a Familiar Concept
HARDY confirmed that he has been actively writing and recording new material. According to the artist, the upcoming release incorporates a concept reminiscent of a previous fan-favorite effort.
"I have been in the studio, I’ve been writing. I’ve written 6 or 8 of the best songs I’ve ever written. They’re all on this record. I’m very excited about it," HARDY shared. "I have a concept, and it’s similar to something I’ve done in the past that was very popular. New music is coming, a lot of it, and a lot of good stuff. It’s very close. Closer than you might think."
In the Studio With Kane Brown
In addition to his solo material, HARDY revealed ongoing studio sessions with fellow country performer Kane Brown. While specific details remain under wraps, the pair have been co-writing and recording together.
"I’ve been writing some stuff with Kane. Without giving too much away, Kane & I have something going on together that might come out at some point," he teased. "That’s as vague as I can be. We’ve spent time in the studio together. We’ve written some songs. We’re cookin’ on something. I have no idea when or where."
"McArthur" Earns CMA Award Recognition
HARDY is also celebrating a nomination for Musical Event of the Year at the upcoming 60th Annual CMA Awards for the song "McArthur." He co-wrote the track alongside Chase McGill, Jameson Rodgers, and Josh Thompson before bringing in Eric Church, Morgan Wallen, and Tim McGraw.
Recalling the writing session, HARDY explained how the story of a family farm passed down through generations evolved into the multi-artist track after he got bold and sent it to Church, Wallen, and McGraw.
